I'm guessing that the developers didn't think it through.There's that - which has a degree of truth to it that many of the writers would, even today, feel a little uncomfortable about - but also the much-overlooked-but-still-very-valid concept that vitae/BPs are also partially abstract, which fudges the math involved.
